It started on a Camping Trip.

The idea for Rancher’s Chips came together on a camping trip in Bobcaygeon, Ontario, Canada. A group of friends, a campfire, and a shared love for potato chips sparked the conversation—but so did a shared frustration with how complicated most chips had become.

Questioning the Modern Ingredient List

Like a lot of people, we started asking a simple question: are all of these ingredients really necessary to make a great-tasting potato chip? When we went looking for low-ingredient, seed-oil-free options, we found very few choices. And the ones that did exist were often priced out of reach for an everyday snack.

That’s when we decided to do things differently. Instead of chasing trends or cutting corners, we focused on getting back to the basics—making chips the way they used to be made. We committed to using just three tried-and-true ingredients: quality potatoes, beef tallow, and salt.
